BT advertising is pants - it's official!

by loiswakeman @ 13/11/2007 - 22:48:25

pantsThis morning, I opened some promotional mail from BT offering me IT support services. I was somewhat surprised to find that it contained a pair of rather horrid red nylon Y-fronts with a yellow IT logo on the front. The idea is that I can be a super hero in the IT world using their service; and possibly wear men's pants over my tights.

No doubt some bright young exec thought this was a good wheeze, but I was less than impressed.

I normally agree with you, but I would really love a pair of those pants!

Are you an IT superhero? 'If the pants fit, wear them', to paraphrase a saying. I'l try to take a snap so you can see them in their full glory!

I aspire to such dizzy heights.

You can now see them in their full, if rather blurred, glory, above. Still fancy a twirl in them?

Yuuuky. All I can say is that they sound so horrible that I hope the bright young exec is being made to wear them for perpetuity as a reward for 'BT's most costly advertising campaign that failed'.

Probably over his head, and with pencils stuck up his nose to prove he's mad. (A Blackadder reference there.)

But is their service 'pants'? I'm not happy with Virgin. Virgin would need huge pants.

On the whole, yes, as one might expect of what is still really a state monopoly. The local support staff are excellent if you can get to talk to them, but the call centre wallahs are useless, and sometimes offhand to the point of rudeness.

Lois I couldn't agree with you more. The 'garment'is in poor macho taste. The promotion of genital technology really doesn't inspire me. Maybe males keep their ITwaves in small places that control them, but females do not.

If this is meant to be a memorable advertising campaign, then at best, it might be remembered as a tasteless expensive one. I doubt that anyone would attach this sad bit of underwear to anything other the washing line, where in the sunlight, it can be allowed to gracefully fade.

I thought about pegging them out in the current thunderstorm, in the hope that a few million amps might frazzle them to a tiny nugget of plastic!

I hope you wear them the next time you go to Tesco and don't forget, they need to go on the outside of your trousers!
